Which format should I pick?

JPG works everywhere. WebP is usually smaller at the same quality and works on Shopify and most websites, but some marketplaces only accept JPG, PNG or similar formats, so check the free image checker before uploading a WebP there.

Will compressing hurt my photo quality?

A little, by design. Quality 80 to 90 is normally hard to tell apart from the original on screen. Compare the preview before you download.

Does a smaller file help my store?

Smaller images load faster, which matters on mobile, and some marketplaces cap the upload size. Keep enough pixels for zoom, which the image checker shows per marketplace.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The compression runs in your browser tab and the photo never leaves your computer.
